Apple announced a brand-new MacBook Air with the new M2 processor on June 6, 2022. It improves the M1's ground-breaking performance and capabilities. The MacBook Air pushes the world's best-selling notebook to new heights. MacBook Air has a bigger 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display, a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, a four-speaker sound system, up to 18 hours of battery life, and MagSafe charging, in addition to an all-new, breathtakingly thin design and even greater speed. Silver, space grey, midnight, and starlight are now the four colours available.

M2 is the second generation of Apple's M-series CPUs, and it builds on M1's impressive capabilities. With industry-leading power efficiency, a unified main memory, and custom technologies, this new processor gives Apple's greatest popular Mac laptops, the MacBook Air and the 13-inch MacBook Pro, even greater performance and features. The M2 has a next-generation 8-core CPU with speed and efficiency improvements, as well as Apple's next-generation GPU, which now has up to 10 cores, two times more than the M1.

The new MacBook Air has undergone one of the most significant redesigns we've seen Apple do to an iconic product, and while you may regret the loss of the famous wedge, it looks a lot more contemporary and attractive. The MacBook Air is, as its name implies, Apple's thinnest and lightest MacBook, and with the new MacBook Air 2022 model, Apple has improved, even more, lowering the total size and weight of the unibody design while also expanding the screen size.

The engineers achieved something in part by reducing the bezels surrounding the screen by up to 30% (top and bottom, 20 percent thinner on the sides). The bulky borders of earlier MacBook Air screens were beginning to appear a little ancient, especially when compared to high-end Windows rivals like the Dell XPS 13, so the new model's tiny bezels give it a considerably more current look.

MagSafe makes a comeback on the MacBook Air, providing consumers with a dedicated charging connector that is simple to attach while also safeguarding the MacBook Air when it is plugged in by releasing rapidly if the charging cable is accidentally removed. There are two Thunderbolt ports on the MacBook Air for attaching a range of peripherals, as well as a 3.5mm audio connection that supports high-impedance headphones. A full-height function row with Touch ID and a large industry-leading Force Touch trackpad is also included in the Magic Keyboard.

M2 boosts the performance of the MacBook Air even further, with performance approximately 40% quicker than the previous generation for intense applications like editing complicated timelines in Final Cut Pro, and up to 15x faster for customers who haven't switched to Apple hardware. Filters and effects in software like Adobe Photoshop are up to 20% quicker than before, and users who haven't yet switched to Apple hardware are up to 5x faster.

The MacBook Air with macOS Monterey provides customers with even greater performance and productivity. Users can work seamlessly between Mac and iPad with features like Universal Control, while AirPlay to Mac lets them play anything and everything from their iPhone or iPad directly on their Mac's gorgeous Retina display. FaceTime has audio and visual capabilities, including Portrait mode and Spatial Audio, that make conversations feel more real and lifelike, while SharePlay allows Mac users to share their FaceTime experiences. Shortcuts deliver the convenience of automation to the Mac, while Live Text and Visual Look Up employ intelligence to display relevant information, Tab Groups in Safari provide advanced tab organising, and Shortcuts provide the flexibility of automating to the Mac.
